OpenFront with money: OpenFront with real money

In OpenFront the money in a match is in-game money: it buys buildings and units and is gone when the match ends. CashWars is OpenFront with real money. Every player pays a buy-in in SOL, the buy-ins form the pot, and the player who conquers the map takes it home.

What a pot is worth

The pot is the sum of all buy-ins. The winner receives it minus a 2% win fee. Three examples:

Buy-in Players Pot Winner receives
$1 4 $4 $3.92
$5 10 $50 $49
$25 8 $200 $196

Buy-ins are $1, $2, $5, $10 or $25 in Solo and Teams, paid in SOL at the live rate. A Golden Round adds a bonus to the pot.

How the money moves

  1. You deposit SOL to your own CashWars deposit address. Deposits are free.
  2. Joining a lobby reserves your buy-in; when the match starts, it goes to the escrow wallet.
  3. The winner's payout is sent to their balance as its own transaction on the Solana blockchain.
  4. You withdraw your balance to any Solana address, at any time. The withdraw fee is shown before you confirm.

OpenFront with money: questions and answers

Can you play OpenFront with money?

Yes, in CashWars: an OpenFront-style territory war in which every match is played for real money. Each player pays a buy-in in SOL, and the winner takes the pot.

Is the money in CashWars real?

Yes. Buy-ins, pots and payouts are in SOL on the Solana blockchain, and every payout and withdrawal is a public transaction. The money in OpenFront itself is in-game money with no cash value.

How much money is in an OpenFront-style match on CashWars?

The pot is the buy-in times the number of players, plus the bonus of a Golden Round. For example, 10 players with a $5 buy-in make a $50 pot, and the winner receives $49.

Where does the money in the pot come from?

From the players in the match. Every player pays the same buy-in when the match starts; there is no outside prize pool except the bonus of a Golden Round.

Can you really win money?

You can win money and you can lose your stake. A match is a contest between players: the winner takes the pot, everyone else loses what they put in. You must be at least 18, and playing for money must be legal where you live.
